House of Representatives’ Committee approves draft law on support of Ukraine

Appropriation Committee of the House of Representatives of the American Congress has approved the draft law, which provides $445,7 million for the support of Ukraine under the U.S. State Department, USAID and other structures as Ukraine’s Embassy to the U.S. reported on
Facebook“The draft law on the appropriation of the State Department, foreign operations and related programs for 2020 financial year establishes the estimation of the support to Ukraine under the U.S. State Department, USAID and other structures in the sum of $445,7 million,” the message said.
The established sum provides the support to Ukraine in the sphere of defense in the sum of $115 million on the program “International military funding”.

The diplomatic representative office emphasized that the document “forbids the allocation of the funds of the American aid for the financing of the actions tied with the recognition of the sovereignty of Russia over Crimea
or any other territory of Ukraine”.
The committee recommended the U.S. State department and U.S. Agency for International Development to continue the interaction with Ukraine in the implementation of rehabilitation and adaption programs for the Ukrainian military, support to newly created Veterans’ Ministry and further development of the fight against the cyber threats from Russia.
The draft law should be approved by all members of the House of Representatives, supported by Senate and signed by U.S. President.

 Earlier the formal process of approval of the draft defense budget for the next year which provides $250 million for Ukraine kicked off in the U.S. Congress.
