New ceasefire, release of over 50 captives agreed on in MinskAt the meeting of the Trilateral Contact Group in Minsk yesterday, Ukraine supported the initiative of the Russian Federation on the new immediate "ceasefire" in Donbas. The negotiators also agreed to release over 50 captives on both sides at the initiative of Ukraine.

Spokesperson for representative of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma, Darka Olifer, posted this on Facebook after the meeting.

"Particular attention was paid to release of the Ukrainian citizens from captivity. At the initiative of the Ukrainian side, the negotiators came to a mutual agreement to release more than 50 people, primarily the wounded, the seriously ill and women, on both sides in the near future," she wrote.

According to Olifer, Ukraine supported the initiative of Russia’s representative Boris Gryzlov on declaring the ceasefire, which should begin immediately, as full and unconditional ceasefire in Donbas is the most important condition for restoration of peace in Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
