A Normandy-format meeting could take place in France in late May or early June. Ukraine's president Petro Poroshenko said this during The Pulse talk show at 112 Ukraine TV channel.
'In May or early June, we will sign the Normandy-format documents, which will be foreseeing the withdrawal of Russian troops from the territory [of the occupied areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions], the withdrawal of heavy weaponry and artillery, disarmament of the illegal armed gangs and making the decision on the implementation of the UN blue helmets', he said.

The head of the state admitted that Russian leader Vladimir Putin hopes that the incumbent President would not be re-elected. 'Mr. Putin really expected that another president would be elected in Ukraine - a weak and incompetent one (...) so that the UN peacekeepers would just function as an escort service for the OSCE observers, which work from nine to six', the President said.
