A military man of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation and his wife were convicted for espionage in favor of Ukraine in temporarily occupied Crimea, as UNIAN reported citing FSB Center of Public Relations.
“On February 28, 2019, North Caucasus Military District Court (Rostov-on-Don) recognized citizens of Russia, military man of the Black Sea Fleet Major Dolgopolov D.A. and his cohabitator Sukhonosova A.S. guilty of the commitment of the state treason in the form of the revealing of the state secret, in the form of the espionage,” the message said.
It is noted that Dolgopolov is sentenced to the imprisonment for 10 years at the strict regime colony and Sukhonosova is sentenced to the imprisonment for 9 years at the ordinary-regime colony.

They were detained in September 2017 by the FSB in Simferopol. “They pleaded guilty and sincerely repented during the court session,” FSB Center of Public Relations stated.
It is reported that the convicted supposedly worked for the military intelligence of the Defense Ministry of Ukraine.
“It is established that Sukhonosova, being recruited by a worker of the Chief Intelligence Department of Ukraine’s Defense Ministry Ihor I. Klymenko, involved Dolgopolov D.A. to the confidential cooperation with the Ukrainian special service for remuneration,” the message said.

According to the information, the mentioned people deliberately gathered and passed state secret data on the activity of the units and formations of the Russian Black Sea Fleet to the Ukrainian intelligence and the leak of the data abroad could damage the defense capacity of Russia.
