Ukrainian political prisoner Oleksandr Kolchenko who stays at penal colony No.6 in Kopeysk, Russia, is now out of the isolation cell; previously, he spent 10 days there, as the guard imposed an enhanced security mode before the New Year holidays. Tatyana Shchur, the Russian human rights defender reported that as quoted by Ukrinform news agency.
'I know Sasha Kolchenko was released from the isolation cell. I hope the lawyer will visit him soon, and we'll get more information', she said.
In September, the inmate also spent three days in the isolation cell; the reason was his 'failure to observe the dress code'. Back then, His mother also stated that shortly before the detention in the cell he wrote an appeal on the meeting with the Ukrainian Consul and Ombudsman.
Kolchenko and Oleg Sentsov were detained by Russian intelligence services in Crimea in May 2014. They were accused of the organization of a terrorist act on the peninsula. Kolchenko was sentenced to 10 years of the colony, Sentsov to 20 years. Both are denying their guilt.
