Ukraine asks U.S. to extradite MMA fighter suspected in murder of journalist

Ukraine asks the U.S. to extradite MMA (mixed martial arts) fighter Andry Inosov suspected in the murder of journalist Vasyl Serhienko in Cherkasy region as Ukrainian News reported citing the materials of the court.
Inosov was suspected in absentia in the participation in the criminal organization created for the commitment of the grave and particularly grave crimes and commitment of the intentional homicide. In December 2018, the court granted the application of the investigation and arrested the suspect in absentia.

On August 15, 2015, he was put on the wanted list as he escaped from the bodies of the preliminary investigation. In October 2016, Inosov was put on the international wanted list.
According to the letter of International Police Cooperation Department of the National Police of Ukraine dated August 30, 2018, the broadcast message on the searching of the MMA fighter for his arrest and further extradition to Ukraine was published by Interpol General Secretariat.

It is established that the sportsmen suspected in the murder is hiding in the territory of the United States. In February 2018, he was arrested by FBI. The request was filed to the American authorities on the provision of the international legal support and extradition of the Ukrainian for the prosecution.
Journalist and public Vasyl Sergienko was beaten up and kidnapped from the yard of his house in Korsun-Shevchenkivsky city, Cherkasy region on April 4, 2014. The next morning his body with the bearing signs of torture and terrible injuries was found in the pit with trash.

In July 2017, the Prosecutor’s Office of Cherkasy region approved and sent the indictment against organizer and one of the perpetrators of Serhienko’s murder.
