A network of undercover Russian agents was busted in Mykolaiv region, southern Ukraine. The state security service detained the leader of the network, the 57-year-old officer of the Ukrainian Navy reserve.
The man repeatedly visited Crimea for instructions that he received from the Russian supervisors. He passed the data about Ukrainian military units stationed in Ochakiv district and formed the paramilitary groups in Mykolaiv region.
The court selected the two-months-long detention as pre-trial restriction measure. Other members of the network are now interviewed as well.
Recently, the Russian court sentenced Ukrainian lawyer Ihor Kyiashko to eight years behind bars at a high-security correctional facility under the charge of espionage and military equipment smuggling attempt, .

“According to the prosecution, Kyiashko tried to buy a blade for the RD-33 engine in Russia and sell it in Ukraine. RD-33 is used in MiG-29 jet fighter aircraft. Russian Security Service controlled the sale process, and he was detained when the money was handed. Kyiashko admitted his guilt,” the news agency reads.
Besides, Kyiashko was found guilty of attempting to gather data on a radio station used in the S-400 missile system. The detainee insists that somebody planted the secret documents during the arrest.
