The New York Times

The Office of the International Criminal Court Prosecutor issued a report regarding previous investigation before 2018, which repeated the assessment of the events in Crimea after the start of the Russian aggression - that its annexation is an an international armed conflict between Ukraine and the Russia. This is reported by Radio Liberty.
"In 2016, the Office of the Prosecutor issued an assessment of the situation on the territory of Crimea and Sevastopol, which it qualified as an international armed conflict between Ukraine and the Russian Federation, which arose no later than February 26, 2014. According to an assessment of the Prosecutor’s Office, the law of international armed conflicts after March 18, 2014 can be applied to the situation in Crimea, because the state of occupation in fact remains in Crimea and Sevastopol, ”the report says.
According to the Office, although this assessment is preliminary, it defines the legal basis for the ongoing analysis of information about crimes allegedly committed in the context of the occupation of Crimea on February 20, 2014.
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine officially announced the beginning of the temporary occupation of Crimea and Sevastopol by Russia on February 20, 2014. International organizations recognized the occupation and annexation of Crimea illegal and condemned the actions of Russia. Western countries have introduced a number of economic sanctions. Russia denies the occupation of the peninsula and calls it "the restoration of historical justice."
