Luhansk thermal power plant switched the basic energy carrier to produce electrical energy. Since November 6, it uses natural gas instead of coal. The reason is that plant's coal stocks are over. Yuriy Klymenko, the deputy governor of Luhansk region reported this on Facebook.
'Today, Luhansk TPP was forced to switch from coal to gas. Schastya TPP currently re-processes gas because the coal cannot be supplied from Russia by the railroad', he wrote.
According to him, there's a respective decision of the government and Naftogaz-Ukraine company.
The official added that the plant can work using either coal or gas; only the use of coal is cheaper. However, this change will not affect the tariffs for heating and hot water supplies for the local residents.
Earlier, there were reports that Luhansk TPP's coal stocks will run out on November 6; the government had previously ruled that the plant will produce energy using the available gas supplies.
