Ukrainian government suggests introducing the new military doctrine

The Ukrainian government suggests introducing the new defense doctrine of the state, said the Prime-Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk during the cabinet meeting. “Ukraine needs a new defense doctrine with a clear definition who is an aggressor, who is a threat. In the new doctrine the Russian Federation should be declared the only threat and aggressor, threatening the territorial integrity of Ukraine”, said the Prime-Minister. He also said that Ukraine starts the construction of the “real border” with Russia. “We start a new project “Stena” (the Wall) – the construction of the “real border” between Russia and Ukraine”, he said.Kiev expects that the NATO will give a status of a special partner to Ukraine, said Yatseniuk. “NATO should grant Ukraine a special partnership status, a partner number one”, pointed the Prime-Minister, adding that the most right decision would be granting Ukraine the full membership in the NATO”. Yatseniuk said also that Kiev is expecting to get a status of a key ally. The Head of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, Pavel Petrenko, stated earlier that the status of ally will allow to extend the military-technical cooperation and provide “mechanisms to purchase necessary armament”. ”With regard to the current situation in Ukraine we have a perspective to acquire the status of the NATO ally very quickly. I think it will happen until the end of this year”, said Petrenko. In his opinion, the status of the ally will be an interim stage on the way to the full membership in the North-Atlantic Alliance”.Recently the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko signed the amendments to the law facilitating the procedure of military recruitment in crisis situations. The law also regulates the rules and procedures encouraging the Armed Forces of Ukraine to switch to the contract-based recruitment.
