First frosts recorded in Kyiv

First frosts recorded in Kyiv Today, October 17, the first frosts have been recorded this autumn in the Ukrainian capital with the temperature dropped as low as -0,7 C.

Frost-free period, which lasted from March 26 and totaled 205 days has finished today, according to the press service of the Central Geophysical Observatory.

The shortest frost-free period in the capital was recorded in 1902 and 1945 with only 144 days, and the longest was 223 days in 2008 and 2013.

However, officially winter in Kyiv will start only after the daily average temperature steadily pass through 0 downward.

According to forecasts, this will happen after November 26.

The air in Kyiv will warm up to + 7 C today.
