First Bond girl Eunice Gayson dies aged 90

Eunice Gayson, the actress who played the first Bond girl, has died at the age of 90.
Gayson starred alongside Sir Sean Connery in the films Dr No and From Russia With Love as James Bond's love interest.
Her passing was noted on her official Twitter account, which stated: "We are very sad to learn that our dear Eunice passed away on 8 June.

"An amazing lady who left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She will be very much missed."She was remembered by James Bond franchise producers Michael Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, who paid tribute to her from the official James Bond Twitter account.

They wrote: "We are so sad to learn that Eunice Gayson, our very first 'Bond girl' who played Sylvia Trench in Dr No and From Russia With Love, has passed away."Our sincere thoughts are with her family."Another message from the daughter and stepson of the original Bond producer Albert Broccoli appeared alongside a picture of Gayson in character as Trench.
Gayson was born in Croydon on 17 March 1928, and was the first female to appear on screen with Connery in the first Bond film, 1962's Dr No.

Her introduction into the film comes when Trench and Bond take part in a game of Baccarat.She introduces herself as "Trench, Sylvia Trench", allowing 007 to respond in the same cadence - with the greeting going on to become his trademark.Gayson's voice was dubbed in both films by German voice actress Nikki Van Der Zyl.

She also starred in the 1958 Hammer horror classic The Revenge Of Frankenstein alongside the legendary Peter Cushing.In 1960 she would be cast in episodes of the 1960 television series of The Avengers and The Saint, which starred future Bond actor Sir Roger Moore.
