Bob Dylan ignores Nobel Committee

Bob Dylan ignores Nobel CommitteeBob Dylan who was awarded 2016 Nobel Prize in Literature has not responded to the Nobel committee’s emails or phone calls, The Guardian.

It is not clear whether the musician who was marked with award “for having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition” will show up at the award ceremony scheduled for December 10.

As is tradition all Nobel Prize winners are invited to the Nobel Prize Award Ceremony to a Stockholm banquet where they receive their Nobel Medal, Nobel Diploma, and a document from King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden confirming the prize.

The committee’s Permanent Secretary Sara Danius said on the radio “Right now we are doing nothing. I have called and sent emails to his closest collaborator and received very friendly replies. For now, that is certainly enough.”

Despite his silence, she said, “I am not at all worried,” and added, “I think he will show up.”

Regardless of his attendance in Stockholm, Danius confirmed the Prize in Literature is still Dylan’s: “If he doesn’t want to come, he won’t come. It will be a big party in any case and the honor belongs to him.”
