The Marvel character was honoured for his 75th anniversary, the Hollywood reporter.
The monument of a legendary character is a bronze four-meter statue that was erected in Prospect Park, Brooklyn.
The place for the monument was not accidental as based on the comics, Captain America hails from New York City and the Brooklyn borough.
There are many allusions to the Captain’s ties to the borough in the Marvel Studios films that contributed to the significance of the location.
“I am just a kid from Brooklyn,”- the character said in the Captain America: the First Avenger picture.
However, not all the residents of the Brooklyn borough were fond of the new landmark. One resident interviewed by the New York Post said the statue damaged the “serenity, calmness and beauty of the park.”
The upset residents should not lament over the sight for too long, as the Cap’s statue will be removed in two weeks and will be installed in different area.
