Pharma companies seek new UK offices in a sign that Brexit is not deterring investment

Three major pharmaceutical companies are searching for new UK offices, quelling fears that the country’s exit from the European Union will force businesses to relocate elsewhere, limiting future research and development in Britain.
Swiss company Novartis is hunting for a new base for its British staff in the Thames Valley area around Reading, Oxford and Slough.
It wants to move out of its UK head office in Frimley, Surrey, to a more central location to help it recruit the best talent.

Meanwhile, flu specialist Seqirus is understood to be seeking a new home in larger premises in Maidenhead after rapidly expanding.
It is part of Australian pharmaceutical giant CSL and employs about 250 people in the UK, but has outgrown its existing base, which is also in Maidenhead.
Autolus, an immunotherapy drug company which began as a start-up from University College London in 2014 and has recently secured ?70m of funding, has grown so quickly that it is also looking for a new home in the west of the capital. Its head office is currently in White City.
The expansions may help to dispel suggestions healthcare firms will not stay in the UK because of Brexit.
The industry has warned that Brexit could lead to the withdrawal of research funding from the EU or make it harder to recruit people for UK-based jobs.
