EU plans to allocate EUR 600m of macro-financial assistance to Ukraine

EU plans to allocate EUR 600m of macro-financial assistance to UkraineThe European Union plans to allocate 600 million euros to Ukraine during the coming weeks, the head of EU Delegation to Ukraine Hugues Mingarelli announced in his speech at annual investments conference in Kyiv.

This is reported by 112 UA TV Channel quoting Ukrainian News agency.

“In the recent years, the EU did a lot to provide macro-financial assistance to Ukraine. Due to this program, 3,4 billion euros have already been given to Ukraine. Now, the second stage takes place, it will allow allocating 600 million euros. The decision to allocate money was taken six weeks ago. As of now, this decision is being considered. 600 mln euros are expected to be allocated in the coming weeks,” he said.

This became possible because the government proposed a bill on cancellation of the ban on exports of raw wood to the Verkhovna Rada, according to him.

Financial aid will positively influence macroeconomic stability, he added.

Earlier it was reported that timber export ban was the only reason why EU blocked financial aid for Ukraine. Last year, Brussels suspended 600 million euros of aid for the Ukrainian government.
