Thai Bourse Poised To End Losing Streak

(RTTNews) - The Thai stock market has finished lower in back-to-back sessions, slipping almost 10 points or 0.6 percent along the way. The Stock Exchange of Thailand now rests just above the 1,590-point plateau although it may stop the bleeding on Monday.

The global forecast for the Asian markets is positive on better than expected employment data from the United States. The European and U.S. bourses were firmly higher Friday and the Asian markets are tipped to open in similar fashion.

The SET finished modestly lower on Friday following losses from the financial shares and energy producers.

For the day, the index shed 8.97 points or 0.56 percent to finish at 1,592.52 after trading between 1,589.72 and 1,603.53. Volume was 19.551 billion shares worth 48.451 billion baht. There were 1,024 decliners and 528 gainers, with 432 stocks finishing unchanged.

Among the actives, Advanced Info tumbled 1.75 percent, while Thailand Airport shed 0.32 percent, Banpu surged 6.03 percent, Charoen Pokphand Foods plunged 2.75 percent, Krung Thai Bank lost 0.60 percent, PTT Exploration and Production fell 0.41 percent, Siam Concrete added 0.54 percent, TMB Bank sank 0.69 percent and Asset World, Bangkok Bank, Bangkok Medical, Bangkok Expressway, BTS Group, Kasikornbank, PTT, PTT Global Chemical and Siam Commercial Bank all were unchanged.
