There are no "pure" low cost companies in Ukraine – Ozhigova

There are no "pure" low cost companies in Ukraine – OzhigovaAccording to the "Boryspil" airport’s spokeswoman Oksana Ozhigova, the airlines operating in Ukraine offer a hybrid model of transportation, but it is not what passengers expect from the low cost companies.

The Cabinet of Ministers approved the State target program of development of 17 airports by 2023. It is expected that the passengers’ traffic will increase to 24 million passengers by 2023 and the airports’ capacity will be increase by 50 per cent.

It is also planned to increase the share of air carriers, operating with the usage of low cost model, up to 30% of the total market of air transportation. Today in Ukraine there is no "pure" low cost companies, said Oksana Ozhigova, the airport "Borispol"’s spokeswoman on air in the program of the radio station “Voice of the Capital”. "Today, in Ukraine, we do not have low cost companies, there are hybrid ones. They offer a hybrid model of transportation, but it is not what passengers expect from the low cost companies." - informed Ozhigova.

At the same time, according to her, many Ukrainian airports have the appropriate infrastructure for the low cost carriers. "Airports of the low cost carriers receive less money, but due to the high frequency of flights, it is enough to consider this item of income profitable for the airport", - explained Ozhigova.

She recalled that the air service between Ukraine and the Russian Federation was suspended on October 25 due to the sanctions against the airlines, but this situation didn’t have any negative impact on passengers’ traffic through the airport "Borispol".
