Apple CEO Tim Cook says he made one simple change that helps him avoid becoming addicted to his iPhone (AAPL)

Apple CEO Tim Cook said he doesn't want people to use their phones so much.




Apple is trying to inform people of how much they use their phones through its weekly Screen Time report.




Cook said that reading his own report made him make one simple change that limited how much he himself was using his phone: he "gutted" his screen notifications.

Phone addiction has become such a worldwide problem that even the Pope weighed in this month.
Pope Francis warned a group of high schoolers about it during a meeting at their school in Rome, reports the Catholic magazine America. He told the teens to "please, free yourselves from your phone addiction," explaining that "when the phone is a drug," there's a danger of "communication being reduced to simple 'contacts.'"
On Tuesday, Apple CEO Tim Cook agreed.
