Trafford Park hit-and-run crash leaves five seriously hurt

A 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the collision, which left a total of six people injured
Five people were seriously injured when a car drove into a group of pedestrians in Greater Manchester.A 21-year-old man was arrested in connection with the hit-and-run crash and remains in police custody.One witness described seeing people get "launched into the air" during the collision in Europa Way, Trafford Park, on Thursday.A blue BMW 330D that is understood to have been involved in the incident was later found in Salford, police said.Great Manchester Police said there was no evidence the incident was terror-related.
Europa Way remains closed northbound between Westinghouse Road and Eighth Street.
One eyewitness described seeing people get "launched into the air"
'Extremely serious'
Five people with "serious injuries" are being treated in hospital, North West Ambulance Service said. A sixth person later made their own way to hospital, but their injuries are not thought to be serious.The suspect has been detained on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and failing to stop after a collision.Ch Supt Jo Rogerson said: "This is an extremely serious incident that we are dealing with and I cannot stress the importance of people contacting us if they know something."Ryan Currie, 23, of Didsbury, said he saw three people and a dog get "launched into the air".He said: "The car then drove through them and carried on without stopping."Loads of people ran over to attend to the injured."
