Marie Brown and Noel Brown were found dead on 4 December
A father and his adult daughter found murdered at his home had been strangled, police have said.Noel Brown, 69, and his daughter Marie, 41, were found in Deptford, south-east London, on 4 December.Police said there was speculation the murders were connected with a large gambling win, but that there was "no evidence to suggest this was the case".No arrests have been made. Police have stepped up patrols in the area following the murders.
Police say Noel Brown had been to a betting shop on the last day he was seen alive
The bodies were found after Ms Brown's family reported her missing when she failed to come home after going to check on her father.
Post-mortem examinations found she and her father died as a result of strangulation.Det Supt Stuart Monk said: "This is a deeply distressing time for Noel and Marie's family as they come to terms with their loss."One of the key strands of our investigation is understanding all we can about Noel's life. "He was well known and liked locally. "We know that Noel used to go to his local betting shop, Paddy Power, in Deptford High Street and had in fact been there during the day he was last seen alive on 30 November. "There has been speculation that his murder was as a result of a large gambling win, however at this time there is no evidence to suggest this was the case."
