Leeds station: Trains cancelled and lines blocked

The disruption is expected to last until at least 15:00 BST
Lines into Leeds station have been blocked and services severely disrupted due to a "trespasser on the railway".Network Rail said overhead electric wires were switched off while police safely "removed [the man] from harms way".Thousands of passengers have been affected at stations across the country, including York, Sheffield, Plymouth and Newcastle.Northern Rail said disruption was expected to last until 15:00 BST.

Passengers at Leeds were turned away by staff earlier unless their journeys were "absolutely necessary".
Train operators Northern and London North Eastern (LNER) have been using buses to replace some of the cancelled services.LNER said eight buses would be operating between Leeds, York and Doncaster.

One commuter tweeted he had been stuck on "between Guiseley and Leeds since 7:30". Richard Benton said passengers were waiting for a diesel train to come and take them into Leeds station.At Sheffield, passengers have been told to make alternative travel arrangements, with services to Nottingham, Plymouth and Newcastle all disrupted. Services in and out of York have also been delayed.One passenger stuck on a train near Ikley said he was unable to get to London on his pre-booked ticket and had "no money" to buy a replacement.
