Future Entrepreneurs: Who Are They?

Future Entrepreneurs: Who Are They? Real innovators are thinking about global challenges faced by humanity, not about the short-term earnings and meeting their needs.

We often say that entrepreneurs will change the future, and that they are able to move the economy forward. However, few people think about who are the nowadays’ entrepreneurs, what knowledge and style of thinking they must have in order to be able to change the world.

Most often, the discussion on the topic of entrepreneurship in Ukraine is limited to either the requirements to the State to ensure a certain mythical ideal environment for development, or even more primitive, tax issues, more precisely, the requirements if not remove them completely, then reduce them to a minimum.

It is difficult to imagine Steve Jobs, meditating on the subject of taxes and requiring the State moratorium on tax audits. Or can you imagine Richard Branson as part of the public council at some ministry, talking about the need for reforms’ implementation?

These are people who value their time, freedom and business, which are engaged in. To tell the truth, I do not know any successful entrepreneur (the keyword here is successful), who would speak for hours about strategic planning or budgeting, would have a high level of knowledge in the field of taxes and generally would waste his precious time on these issues.

The entrepreneurs of the future are able to see new opportunities - in any chaos, they follow innovations and know how to attract investors.

On The Possibilities

In the economy of abundance, whose apologist is Peter Diamantis, an American entrepreneur, co-founder of the International Space University and the founder of the first company in the world for space tourism “Space Adventures”, everything will just "be in abundance", so collaboration (joint action) is welcome; people trust each other, ready to share their knowledge, willing to take risks. We, for the most part, live in the economy of shortage, where the slogan is "it will never be enough," that is why instead of cooperation we have competing, we treat strangers with suspicion, we do not share knowledge and do not know how to take risks.

It turns out that the economic opportunities abound around us, but they "do not grow on the trees", they need to be pursued, we should try to get them on the way, says Nassim Taleb. So, we need to learn to live in the economy of abundance, to create a life full of opportunities, to switch the thinking paradigm from the idea of scarcity to the phenomena of abundance.

About Innovations

Steve Jobs called “innovations” the creation of new ideas for solving the existing problems. Peter Diamantis founded the Fund for the Support of the Revolutionary Innovations XPRIZE, aimed at improving the life of all mankind.

The prizes are awarded in four categories: energy and the environment, the development of the surrounding space, education and development, biology and medicine. Some of the rewards reach $ 10 million. Innovations are primarily a continuous movement to improve the quality of people's lives.

The entrepreneurs of the future will seek to have a positive impact on people's lives, they will think about the global challenges faced by humanity, not about short-term earnings and simple meeting of their needs.

The businessman of the future will never do something just for the sake of receiving money. "Need - is the true mother of invention", - says Taleb. Robotics, 3D printing, synthetic biology, DNA, medicine, nano-materials and artificial intelligence – these spheres now rivets the attention of the future employers.

On Investors

In the words of Nassim Taleb: "Investors need to get luck by the tail, instead of getting bogged down in the bureaucratic swamp."

Indeed, investors invest in people with innovative ideas, and not in the business plans. In his book "Anti fragility" Taleb calls the business plans "mold" and strategic planning "swaps’ studies": it is a distraction from the real possibilities.
Future Entrepreneurs: Who Are They?

"You should put on the jockey, not on the horse" – and I think we should agree with the author. But our paradigm of thinking does not allow us to face the truth, we are not able to focus on innovations and often lose our opportunities in paper works and multiple business plans.

Perhaps we should rethink the historical interpretation of innovations, learn to work with uncertainty, look for opportunities, convert an error in the information, not to talk, but to act, not to write business plans, but grab your luck by the tail.
