Queen doesnít want Donald Trump to use bandís song

Queen doesnít want Donald Trump to use bandís songDonald Trump walked onstage to "We are The Champions" at the Republican National Convention opening evening on Monday. But using of rock anthem was never approved by Queen. Also Sony Music ATV, which owns publishing rights on the song, tells the Trump campaign neither asked nor was given permission to use the song.

ďOn behalf of the band, we are frustrated by the repeated unauthorized use of the song after a previous request to desist, which has obviously been ignored by Mr. Trump and his campaign,Ē Sony statement reports.

It's unclear at this time if Sony ATV plans to take legal action.

Queen just released a statement, calling Trump's move, "An unauthorized use at the Republican Convention against our wishes."

ďWe are taking advice on what steps we can take to ensure this use does not continue,Ē Queen's Brian May wrote. ďRegardless of our views on Mr Trumpís platform, it has always been against our policy to allow Queen music to be used as a political campaigning tool.Ē

Additionally, singer Adam Lambert, who has been performing with Queen in recent years in the place of original lead singer Freddie Mercury, who died of AIDS complications in 1991, posted a photo of Mercury with the statement: ďIf your political party spends decades treating gay people as second-class citizens, guess what: You donít get to use Freddie Mercuryís music at your convention.Ē

Itís not the first time when Trumpís campaign has used this song on different events. Earlier in June May said he would never give permission to use the song because the band never wanted it used for politics.

In addition, Adele, the Rolling Stones, R.E.M. and Neil Young have all asked the billionaire right-wing populist to stop playing their music at campaign rallies.
